An Open Letter to my Congresscritter

I just posted this on his website; too much?

Hello, Whoever is Tasked to Read Constituent Emails,

My name is TC Lynch, and H.R.684, the “Marketplace Fairness Act of 2013,” will put me out of business, so I was alarmed to see Rep. Michael Grimm listed as a co-sponsor of something that is a threat to my economic existence. While I fall well below the Subsection (c) threshold, almost every vendor I work with does not, and most have informed me they will likely close their shops if this bill becomes law.

While the legislation may be noble in its intent–protecting the “brick and mortar”, “Mom and Pop” businesses which lack the resources to compete with Internet-based companies, the fact is there either aren’t any such services available to me here on Staten Island, or the local outfits that could possibly provide what I require charge fees for their services beyond the price point I can afford… which means I’d be forced to shut down.

If that happens, I’ll have plenty of time on my hands as a newly minted member of Mitt Romney’s “47%”, and I will use that time to see your employer is defeated when he runs for re-election in 2014.

In fact, if this blatantly unconstitutional, naked tax grab masquerading as “level the playing field” legislation (whose real aim actually is to crush the smaller competitors of the big businesses so enthusiastically backing it) does not pass in the House of Representatives, if Mikey Suits is listed as a co-sponsor when it comes to a final vote, I’ll still make it a mission of mine to see him kicked out of his New York CD-13 seat, even if the Jody’s Bar backroom known as the Staten Island Democratic Party nominates some putz from the wrong side of the VZ… that’s how serious this issue is to me.

Have a nice day.
