The PC Pyre Grows Higher as Howie Kurtz Gets Fired

I don’t care where some b-ball bench jockey sticks his dick.

I also don’t care about Howie Kurtz. I long ago marked him as a dope. I watch Howie’s CNN show each week to keep my “throw shit at the TV” rhythm in sync. But what Tina Brown did to him is bullshit.

You should not be hung for being a putz…. if that is their standard, the clusterfuck that is Newsweek/Daily Beast would have zero employees, and Brown would, at long last, be taken behind the barn and put out of our misery.

It’s obvious Tina doesn’t know shit when it comes to editorial control of her product. Howie made a mistake that any J-School approved, brain dead “editor” should have caught and corrected. I’ve used baseball bats to correct far lesser misdeeds among the lunatics who try working with me.

The “layers and layers” of journalistic integrity the Make Believe Media claims to employ were shown to be ghosts; some fucking guy clicked “Publish,” and left the Daily Beast’s ‘professional’ standing asunder.

Usually, there is a correction and apology issued, and the world keeps turning. This time, Tina Brown seemed to need a sanctifying sacrifice, so Howie met the knife. The ineffably brutal Stacy McCain thinks the long knives were already unsheathed, awaiting an opportune time to strike:

My guess — and I’m just guessing here — is that Ezra Klein or some of the other Juice Box Mafia types put Kurtz on their Enemies List during George W. Bush’s first term, as being someone who didn’t go along with the Bush-hating anti-war mentality. The old-fashioned sentiments of patriotism in time of war and respect toward the Presidency (whoever may hold the office) was anathema to the Marcusean worldview of the young leftist intellectuals who learned their politics in the dozen years between the Monica Lewinsky scandal and the inauguration of President Obama. And so the memory of Kurtz critically examining some episodes of Bush Derangement Syndrome probably accounts for the Left’s sudden urge to pounce on what was a clumsy error as an excuse to destroy him.

I can buy that. I can also buy this:

Clearly Kurtz erred, and rather dumbly. But he does this a lot, and no one’s had a problem with it in the past.

Why now?

I think it’s pretty obvious — Jason Collins is now the Gay Black Sandra Fluke, and therefore now An Hero, and the Left protects its heroes.

And so Howie Kurtz, who did not face even a whit of criticism for proclaiming, without facts or even any reading, that Anthony Weiner was completely innocent and obviously framed, gets fired for a mistake.

But when you make a mistake against the left, it’s not a mistake. It’s a crime.

I think Ace has it over Stace when trying to figure out Tina Brown’s reason to kick Kurtz to the curb. He had a history of getting things wrong, but this time it involved a never heard of before, bench riding zero, who the media now considers a hero, for declaring he likes putting his dick between other men’s butt-cheeks.

If that’s their standard, why doesn’t St. Andrew of the Heartaching Gobsmack yet have a Nobel Prize for possessing righteously powerful glutes?
