Barry: President of the United States of Unionized Workers [Updated]

More White House “constituent servicing” in action:

The Obama administration is threatening to rescind billions of dollars in federal stimulus money if Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and state lawmakers do not restore wage cuts to unionized home healthcare workers approved in February as part of the budget.

Schwarzenegger's office was advised this week by federal health officials that the wage reduction, which will save California $74 million, violates provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Failure to revoke the scheduled wage cut before it takes effect July 1 could cost California $6.8 billion in stimulus money, according to state officials.

via U.S. threatens to rescind stimulus money over wage cuts.

This is exactly why you will see things like what just occurred in Oklahoma begin gathering steam. The Feds should have no say in how any state deals with its own employees.

Obama’s absolutely shitting on the Tenth Amendment by threatening California in this manner. In his resolute decision to run every single facet of America’s existence, this two-bit Chicago punk, and his crass, corrupt band of thugs, are making a mockery of the Constitutionally stated separation of powers. In the same way that they are reaming out Chrysler’s bondholders, they are screwing any and everyone that is not one of their chosen “protected” classes… which comes down to anyone they decide they want to fuck in whatever manner they deem appropriate.

UPDATE: Cap’n Ed: “This should make clear Obama’s prioritie[s] as President. He couldn’t care less about California defaulting or automakers going under, but a $2/hr pay cut for 400,000 union workers is the center of his universe. I’d suggest changing “Hail to the Chief” to “Look for the Union Label,” but Obama would probably approve it.”

Michael Barone: “Gangster Government”

Obama’s attitude toward the rule of law is apparent in the words he used to describe what he is looking for in a nominee to replace Justice David Souter. He wants “someone who understands justice is not just about some abstract legal theory,” he said, but someone who has “empathy.”

In other words, judges should decide cases so that the right people win, not according to the rule of law.
