Nothing Could Ever Be “Enough”

Mike Lupica’s Shooting From the Lip: Is this the big payback?:

A couple of weeks ago, when the Red Sox came into the Stadium to play the Yankees, I asked Michael Kay, the Yankees’ play-by-play man on YES, a simple question, looking ahead to the next weekend:

“If the Yankees knock them out at Fenway, will it be enough for Yankee fans?”

Kay looked at me as if I had just landed from the moon.

“Are you insane?” he said.

Mikey, there needs to be bodies, a rash of corpes impaled on pikes running across the Stadium’s front door, to even approach “enough” to make me forget how those bastards rolled over and choked last year. Kicking Red Sox ass next weekend and sending their smug mugs off to an early tee time instead of defending thier title would only be considered “a good start.”
