Prez Debates, Round Three

I’m still awake (an hour or so of arguing with da bookie about amping up my ALCS bets: “You’re freaking killing me already!” and dropping some Nelson Munz bon-mots on Red Sox Nation denizens while draining off the leftover baseball beers) so I switched over from ESPN to MSNBC to catch the 2AM replay and see if I had missed anything.

First Question: “Senator, I want to set the stage for this discussion by asking the question that I think hangs over all of our politics today and is probably on the minds of many people watching this debate tonight.

And that is, will our children and grandchildren ever live in a world as safe and secure as the world in which we grew up?

What the fuck is Bob Schieffer talking about? Forget the kids and grandkids shit (obviously a sop to the “pumping out babies” niche voters); what world did I grow up in that I felt safe and secure? I remember when I was a kid in school, seeing Krushchev slamming that friggin’ shoe on the podium and reading about Kennedy ready to nuke Castro’s ass, and in my teens seeing sidewalk scribblings in Manhattan detailing what an H-Bomb going off at the Empire State Building would do to me if I were standing right here! when the sucker lit up. And then, in the Eighties, coming to realize that according to all the Smart Kids that crazy bastard Reagan was going to make everything from Boston to D.C. glow in the dark because we were just daring the Russkies to pound our asses if we didn’t cut a deal with them, and then watching the Trade Center burning in ’93, when Allah’s Asshole’s first hit the U.S. mainland.

What world is this clown talking about? Because I sure as hell never lived there.

And what in blazes does Dick Cheney’s lesbian daughter have to do with Sen. Waffles’s opinion on whether gays and lesbians are born or bred? He ducked the question by saying what he thinks she would say if the question was put to her? The man has no low.
