No More Nomar

The trade made sense on a couple of levels, and Boston baseball beat hack Dan Shaugnessy is right about it was time for him to go. But he’s a maroon if he really believes:

The Red Sox lost a great bat yesterday, but they liberated 24 players who can move forward with the traditional understanding that everyone in the clubhouse is working toward a common goal.

Are you telling me Nomar getting dealt is going to make that team’s two biggest flakes, Pedro and Manny, suddenly morph into Boy Scouts? Manny doesn’t give a damn about anything but Manny, and Theo tried, and failed, to give the guy away. Pedro’s contract is up at the end of the season, and last time he was in NYC he went out of his way to play nice with members of the Evil Empire. He is not a happy citizen of Red Sox Nation.

The Backlash Begins

Kerry’s handlers better have learned a lesson or two following this encounter their candidate had with a couple of men in uniform. Lesson One: You ask someone before using them as a media prop. KerryHaters has a pic of Frenchie jabbing his finger at one of the Marines; if not for the quality of character the fellow possesses, that finger would have been snapped before anyone knew what was happening.
(postscript: That picture was buggin me so I grabbed it and blew it up; it looks like a photshopping. “Allah Unleashed” rules apply.)

UPDATE: busted, busted, busted!
