More Barry BS Unearthed

I’ve always been puzzled by the story about The One spurning a lucrative Wall Street career to work as a “community organizer” in Chicago. The only fleshing of this story I could remember hearing was he worked as a researcher at some firm for a year or so, a firm whose name never seemed to surface when this shining example of the Messiah’s altruism would be wheeled out.

Now I know why:
it’s a bunch of hooey:

It has been noted by Charles Krauthammer and others that very few people have stepped forward to vouch for Barack Obama.

Indeed, there would seem to be an especially conspicuous absence of witnesses to the years after graduated from Columbia and before he moved to Chicago to work as a community organizer.

Well, it turns out that one of his co-workers, Dan Armstrong, has in fact written about Mr. Obama during those days. And while he is an admitted fan of Obama’s, he claims that he has inflated his resume considerably.

Others who worked with Obama at Business International have subsequently chimed in.

Now note, the guy calling Bambi out is a fan, not a member of some GOP Smear Machine. But Mr. Armstrong could not stand by when he knew The One’s recounting of that time was a tissue of lies.

(PS: A commenter to this piece shreds another piece of Bambi’s self-generated narrative.)

Another thing I learned today about what Barry was up to back in those days was a stint he did working for NYPIRG. Back in my days at the College of Staten Island’s student rag, I regularly use to rip into this outfit and their sweetheart financing scheme, resulting in a flood of students demanding a rebate on the piece of their Student Activity Fee funneled to the group. In fact, just to see if it would work, I applied for my refund twice, to see if they were truly as inept as i believed them to be… and they cut me a second check!

So I say to myself: “Third time a charm?” Yep, they cut me a third check. At that point I went to their office and told (what I guess was) our local version of what Obama was over at CCNY about how seriously stupid their bookkeeper was, and how silly I was gonna make them look when I wrote the story.

The moron threatened to sue me if I didn’t return the extra checks.

“Go for it, asshole,” I said. “I’ll subpoena your whole organization’s financial records if you’re stupid enough to file suit over six fucking bucks.”

So it was funny reading this kicker in the article about Bambi’s NYPIRG time:

Moreover, according to the New York Times, when USPIRG head Gene Karpinski met Obama in 2004 at the Democratic convention, Obama reportedly confessed to Karpinski, “I used to be a PIRG guy. You guys trained me well.”

Yeah, riiiight. Was that training the mad “community organizing” skillz you brought to bear when doling out all that Annenberg Challenge dough?
