What’s not on Obama’s schedule… – msnbc.com
A U.S. military official tells NBC News they were making preparations for Sen. Barack Obama to visit wounded troops at the Landstuhl Medical Center at Ramstein, Germany on Friday, but “for some reason the visit was called off.”
One military official who was working on the Obama visit said because political candidates are prohibited from using military installations as campaign backdrops, Obama’s representatives were told, “he could only bring two or three of his Senate staff member, no campaign officials or workers.” In addition,
“Obama could not bring any media. Only military photographers would be permitted to record Obama’s visit.”The official said “We didn’t know why” the request to visit the wounded troops was withdrawn. “He (Obama) was more than welcome. We were all ready for him.”
His mouthpiece gave the following reason for canceling the visit: “The senator decided out of respect for these servicemen and women that it would be inappropriate to make a stop to visit troops at a U.S. military facility as part of a trip funded by the campaign.”
Bullshit. He could have had his caravan pull up at the front door, walked into the hospital all by his lonesome, and spent as much time as he wanted meeting the soldiers he seeks to lead who’d left the battlefield bleeding. No one would have asked him who was paying his way; no one would have offered any questions about a sitting United States Senator, who happened to be in town, paying a visit to his fellow citizens who had been injured while serving their country. He would have been welcomed with absolutely no problem.
It seems to me the only problem was such a visit wouldn’t give his campaign the desired “optics,” which is the foundation of his entire campaign, which made the Messiah’s handlers decide The One couldn’t be bothered expending that much time and energy if they couldn’t use it as another tightly choreographed publicity chip in Barry’s political poker game.
So he bailed.
On the block where I grew up, that’s called: you scumbag punk.
If there is any reporter on the Obamapalooza Tour worth his or her salt, they would find out if there was at least ONE patient in that hospital that hails from Illinois, who just had their home-state Senator blow him off in the name of campaign expediency, and ask that soldier what they think of the Messiah’s “judgement.”
“It’s unclear how Obama could have made the visit at all, given the Pentagon’s directives. No Senate staff was on the trip, and the Obama camp says they received the Pentagon’s directives on Wednesday, after they were already abroad.
Bottom line: We’re not seeing any issue here at all.”
WHAT? He couldn’t walk through the doors by himself? Tell me, you fucking jackass, what does the Messiah’s colon taste like?

I still don't see that any other single presidential candidate in this race would have chosen differently. And I still don't get why you think they should.
This is the MILITARY. They don't need to be pandered to.
You're right; they do not need to be “pandered to.”
But it would have been nice if this douchebag who wants to be Commander in Chief had dragged his ass away from his Euro tour to stop in for a visit with the busted-up members of the forces he seeks to lead. Instead, since he couldn't use it for campaign propaganda, he blew them off.
“I still don't see that any other single presidential candidate in this race would have chosen differently.”
Do you honestly believe that a guy like McCain would have scheduled, then canceled, something as stupefyingly simple to do because he wasn't allowed to bring his campaign staff along to record the visit?
Okay, I was wrong, and I apologize. I am changing my position.
According to Fox News, Barky was NOT rushing from one state reception to another, when he cancelled Landstuhl/Rammstein.
He went to use the workout facilities at the Ritz-Carlton.
Under those circumstances, he was unbelievably sensitive, and he does need to get his priorities in order (not that they involve the interests of American people, citizens, military, etc., in the first place).
I was wrong and I apologize for my earlier statement.
Apology accepted. Now go beat up a member of Red Sox Nation as an act of contrition.
