Air America Idiot Update

Air America Host Randi Rhodes Suspended For Calling Hillary [and Geraldine Ferraro] A “Big F*cking Whore”

video goodness:

Well now.
I’m of two minds right now.

On the one hand, I’d say this outburst is quite in line with this stumble-down, face planting drunk‘s previous escapades, so it’s no real biggie.

On the other hand, as noted in the previous AAR post, she’s damn near on her own these days, so maybe the pressure (and the booze) finally made her cut loose and tell us what she really believes… and in the process gave WWRL more reason to cut her from their schedule since even her new bosses think she’s crossed some kind of line this time.

I was DREADING your getting wind of this and was hoping this would blow over.

I wasn’t particularly surprised because I do listen to the program and I’d heard the change in tone over the past month or so, but, interestingly, my mom, of all people, was SHOCKED and APPALLED at the LANGUAGE, mind you!

I’m of two minds about it, as well.

It was in a club, not on the air, so I think the network might be overstepping their bounds. Nothing she said was unusual or abnormal on the comedy circuit, especially nowadays.

What annoyed me personally (because I am not one of these hardcore Obama supporters) was, would she have been comfortable taking equivalent shots at her messiah, or, significantly, his wife?

Would she have been able to weather the squawks THAT would have yielded?

That said, an argument could be made that, if Schuster had been taken a down a peg or two over Chelsea and I approved of it, it would be unfair of me to let Rhodes off the hook, simply because I’ve always wanted to fuck her brains out.

I agree she’s got some demons on her back, but I actually don’t think this had much, if anything, to do about it.

Her tirade was a natural progression from what she projects on the radio everyday regarding the Clintons, and, after all, this is someone who freely admits to have gone into a rapture-like trance after voting for Obama in the primary, so….this is just an natural next step in her headlong flight into “Obama-mania”, more than any other similar addiction to any controlled substances.

The reason she drew the suspension was she said it at an AAR sponsored event, so she was, de facto, representing the company just as much as if she was on the air… I guess.

I am loving this news. Rhodes would appear – at least to me – to have some anger management issues. She’s the one who’s said for years that it’s the Conservatives who are mean-spirited. Now, one can say she was doing stand-up, (and allegedly so was Michael Richards when he got into trouble) but there is a lot of truth in humor.

Rhodes…preaching a message of Liberals unifying the country, and then spewing her so-called “stand up”? Replace her with anyone else who is perceived by the public to be a Conservative, and we’d hear the Left howling for that person’s resignation. Substitute her for, say Limbaugh or Hannity, and the Left would be livid.

No, David, she cannot say these are not her true feelings.

Without the profanity, she’s like that, hatin’ on Hillary, every day, on her show.

The other hosts are pretty much pro-Obama but they never lower themselves to the level Randi does.

Now I’ve LOVED Randi, but her act’s gone down the sewer lately, as has Malloy’s (but that’s a different story)….I cannot protest TC’s allegations of drunkenness because I DO believe there’s some sort of problem, lurking in the background…

There is a point in that she was not on air but at an event when she said it, but it also cannot be denied that it was an affiliate event, by AAR, for new hosts, where it was bound to be publicized…..

If I thought Shuster and Imus were douches, I can’t very well let her off the hook.

I agree with you Hash that Rhodes may have some alcohol dependency issues – if I’m interpreting your comments correctly.

She used to be on the local AAR station here but tape delayed, the last couple of years. Now, she’s either not on or they tape delay her and run her program from 2AM-5AM and I’m not awake then.

I’ve heard her “hate”. She’s got issues beyond booze, but there’s no excuse for what she said.

I hold everyone to the same standard. If anyone from Righty Talk had said the same as Rhodes, believe me, I would have held them to the same standard.

Jon Elliot said in his Thursday program that the event was sponsored by AAR, so in a way she was still on “the company clock.”

  6. hashfanatic says:

She’s a hardcore boozer and an ex-cokehead who most likely fell off the wagon again, but that’s no justification for this kind of bizarre shit and the suspension has less to do with her aborted performance then it represents the final straw for the loser management, who had every right to can her ass. Her synchophant weenie groupies are still yammering on about “freedom of speech”, but what they neglect to recognize is that freedom of speech applies to government. It has nothing to do with insulating her from any employer who regards their “Goddess” as a costly discipline problem.

If she’s slipping back into darkness, that’s what rehab is for. It’s not like she’s unfamiliar with the drill.
