MoveOn.org should not have labeled Gen. David Petraeus “General Betray Us” in a controversial newspaper ad, Elizabeth Edwards said in Des Moines Friday.
“Someone who’s spent their life in the military doesn’t deserve ‘General Betray Us,’” said Edwards, wife of Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.
She knows the nutroots won’t turn on her hubby when she says something as obvious (and, frankly, tepid) as this, but if he said it, the follow-up questions would have him tieing himself in knots trying to avoid saying something more muscular against MoveOn’s tactics.
All the Dems running for Prez are too frightened of MoveOn to call them out on that advert, but sheesh, sending your wife out? Bad form, Silky.

The post reads virtually like a threat. If I were the Edwardes, I’d be all over FDL for threatening and menacing statements.
Yeah, I saw that and was dazzled at the sheer brass the Hamster showed by trying to lay down the Nutroot Law on Liz Edwards. It wasn’t “virtually” a threat, it was a fucking ORDER. And the truth is, Hamster really believes she and her ilk carry that kind of authority. After all, look what they did to Lieberman when he went “off the reservation”… oh, wait.
Sooner or later, one of the Dem primary candidates (or eventual primary victor) is gonna have to smack the shit out of the nutroots; if not, their Repub opponents (most likely Rudy) are gonna call them out on it: “You’re afraid of these people and think you’re strong enough to lead the country? Fuhhgeddaboudit!”
