While unauthorized entry into the United States is illegal, being in the country after having entered illegally is not necessarily a crime, according to a new ruling by the Kansas Court of Appeals.

One, possibly hopeful thing that has come out of the massacre in Newark is that LA MIGRA will now be notified if an illegal alien gets snagged, even if the jurisdiction is inclined to spring him…
A step forward, I guess (or, to my mind, a step back to where we should have been in the first place)…..up here by me, the decision to enforce and prosecute is very much an individualized affair between mayors, police chiefs, etc., and subject to whatever vagaries and fever dreams they might be in the throes of, at whatever moment. My town’s mayor has an “amnesty” mentality, but the next town up does not….
My better half almost had a coronary but I went up to talk to the Minutemen when they came up here….I had a lot of preconceived notions at first, but I have to say they seemed to have their heads screwed on straight…
(But is that the same as if we would have lent support to the mob or the Kahanists when the old neighborhood went bananas? See, this is my conflict…..who sneaks in during chaos? Who pulls their card?)
