Darth Rove Retires

I guess this is the big whoop-de-doo of the day:
memeorandum: Karl Rove to Resign At the End of August (Wall Street Journal)

and so I must weigh in….

Lefties? You fucking wish you had a guy on your side as good at the game. You’re stuck with louses like Kos, engineering your party into a shitpan.

Righties? Two words: Mitt Romney. If you morons even begin to think an independent like me would vote for this shit cheap suit you are out of your everloving-motherfucking minds.

I think that this is supposed to be a news story about Karl Rove’s resignation. But this belongs on the editorial page (and it’s unlikely that one would find it on the editorial page of the newspaper in which it appears):

Mr. Rove established himself as the political genius behind the rise of George W. Bush and the brief period of united Republican rule. But he did it largely through highly divisive policies and campaign tactics, such as the attacks on Democratic rival John Kerry the 2004 campaign. That strategy appears finally to have backfired, as seen in the Republican loss of Congress in 2006, and Mr. Bush’s low poll numbers.

“This is not facts. It’s extremely biased opinion. And in fact not just biased, but politically clueless. It is not just a viewing of recent history through a fun-house mirror–it is a rewriting of it.

Karl Rove “attacked” John Kerry? This is written as though Kerry ran a high-minded campaign, above the fray, ignoring the supposed mud slinging coming from the Bush campaign, putting forth reasoned, coherent policy positions that were drowned out in the public debate by the Bush noise and slander machine. As always, it was only George Bush and Karl Rove who were “divisive,” not the gentle, noble Democrats.

This is, of course, a description of the 2004 campaign that could come only from someone living on Bizarro World. It ignores all of the incessant Bush bashing from the Democrats, and Kerry, whose only message, and claim to the presidency (other than that he was a Vietnam war hero), was that he wouldn’t be George Bush. Every campaign speech, every policy paper emitting from the campaign was “Bush policies have been disastrous. If it’s a Bush policy, I’ll do the opposite.” There was rarely an actual specific policy proposal, and when there was, it was never without reference to Bush.

“I also suspect that the reporter is conflating the actions of the Swift Boat Vets with Karl Rove’s campaign, though there was never any evidence of coordination, and the former had plenty of their own reasons to not want to see a President Kerry, which they stated many times. They may have “attacked” him, but they were up front about why they did so.

But no, in the minds of the MSM, it is George Bush who is the “divider,” not the Democrats and the left who have been vilifying him for over six years now as an election stealer, a warmonger, a chimpanzee, a torturer, a war criminal–despite his acquiescing to (in partnership with Ted Kennedy) much of the liberal political agenda, with an expansion of Medicare, federal control over education, a new amnesty for illegal immigrants, and a general expansion of government on almost all fronts. All of which was pushed by the evil mastermind, Karl Rove.”

And now we’re gonna see kangaroo courts called on the Hill because, dammit, the Nutroots expect no less!

I realize you believe the blogosphere begins and ends with Markos Moulitsas’s every word, but I have a different take on what I see emerging.

Firstly, to point out the major news flash that the Israelis are up to their necks in our foreign policy choices is no longer the revolutionary choice it was just one year ago.

Secondly, a sizable number of moderate Democrats, traditional paleoconservatives, self-hating Catholic types, new grads no longer under a censorious, professioral thumb, questioning neocon skeptics, etc., ALREADY realize our so-called alliance with the Jewish state has been an unholy, expensive one, with little realized ultimate benefit, and are looking for a way to remain credible about what they believed and why they believed it with the motivations for supporting a significant realignment of priorities.

In other words (and with absolutely no offense intended to anyone wrestling with this dichotomy), they wanna fuck their “friends” over and get away with it, scot-free!

  2. hashfanatic says:

    Oh, one more point.

Rumsfeld was fired last year….and he moved almost immediately into his own new office in the White House.

    Ever wonder why?

    Folks, Rove ain’t going anywhere.

Dude, did you hit that link? Markos was on MEET THE PRESS. You can get all anti-Jew you want and try to play him down, but the FACT is the MSM is treating Moulitsas like a playa.

He’s gonna end up the face of the “New Democrats.”

“Firstly, to point out the major news flash that the Israelis are up to their necks in our foreign policy choices is no longer the revolutionary choice it was just one year ago.”

Then why isn’t Gaza an unending pyre? They are currently killing each other in search of ultimate power… why not blast them all into non-existence, and show them what TRUE power looks like?

Then let Jordan pick up the slop.

“He’s gonna end up the face of the “New Democrats.””

TC, he doesn’t have the discipline.

“..why not blast them all into non-existence, and show them what TRUE power looks like?…”

Now, now….let us not be antisemitic, now..

“Then let Jordan pick up the slop.”

They’ve actually done way more than their share, letting the Palestinians stay with them, and for that, they should be recompensed.

But Palestinians should have a free, safe Palestine.

What I was really driving at in the above quoted passage is that it has been unacceptable for Americans, in America, to question the actions of Israel or question what any Jew says, and for the life of me, I don’t know why.

It’ll get worse before it gets better.

  6. TC says:

“But Palestinians should have a free, safe Palestine.”

    IT NEVER FUCKING EXISTED.

  7. hashfanatic says:

Wrongo. Read your history books. Look at maps.

It is the Jews that were relocated there after the war, because of guilt on the part of the Brits over wartime atrocities in Europe against the Jews, and because the Americans wanted no part of that influx

If anything, Israel should reconfigure back to pre-1967 borders.

Greater Jerusalem, IMHO, should be placed under Vatican administration as a joint protectorate, pending further negotiations.

  8. TC says:

    Right. “Look at maps.”

The Temple never happened. Sucker never got built. “Masada”?” All made up.

“Bethlehem,” Jeruselam,” didn’t even exist until those dirty Jews dug their toes in the stand…
Nothing ever fucking happened before the UN put an insanely Zionist point to it.

    Right.

Go fuck off and come back with an argument.

  9. TC says:

If you would bloody admit it, the Israeli’s took NO PROPERTY from any gobsmacked bag called “Palestinians.”

  10. hashfanatic says:

The only thing that will work is pre-1967 borders and neutral administration of Jerusalem.

All the nations must be reverted to the proper way in which they were intended, prior to the wrongful aggression of all parties.

There is no other honest answer.

The Palestinians, the Syrians, particularly the Lebanese, have a right to some peace for once, just once. Even the Jewish settlers are miserable with the cards Olmert has dealt them (well, of course they are miserable, for they have no business squatting on stolen land), and bringing in purveyors of evil like Feiglin and neocon architect Netanyahu will make matters only worse, in the long run.

America is now selling weapons to Saudi Arabia and GIVING missile defense systems, as well as arms and countless billions in foreign aid to Israel. It’s time to stop dealing arms with nations that supposedly sponsor terrorism, and it’s MORE than time to wean the ungrateful Zionist nation from America’s bountiful tit.

There’s more than enough that needs to be attended to at home.

  11. TC says:

“All the nations must be reverted to the proper way in which they were intended, prior to the wrongful aggression of all parties.”

And so is Israel. There was NO Jordan, or any of these other Brit-borne definitions, before Israel.

  12. hashfanatic says:

For you, it seems there is only Israel. All else apparently is to be rendered into glass.

  13. TC says:

No. There is Jordan; there is Syria. There is all these “Arab” countries that treat the so-called “Palestinians” like Europe treated Gypsies: “YOU take them.”

  14. hashfanatic says:

I don’t particularly blame them for it.

They shouldn’t have been forced into having to do so by their “partner in peace” to begin with.

Ordinarily, I’d suggest recompense for the costs of absorption as fair turnabout for the entity that forced the mass exodus, but I’m painfully aware that, as an American taxpayer, I’d be forced to shoulder the bill.
