St. Andrew of the Heartaching Gobsmack Gets CCW “Outing” All Wrong

The Daily Dish: The Privacy of Gun Owners

Glenn Reynolds argues that the important thing is keeping people guessing about who has a gun or not. Fair enough. But I’m not that impressed by wusses who don’t want to be ostracized by liberal elites at their neighborhood barbecues. Isn’t that part of the point of owning a gun – pissing off liberals?

via Ace, who notes (after ragging Kaus for encroaching on AoS’s “Smack Sully” turf): “Second item: Wusses. When others use it, it’s homophobic; but then two months later, Sullivan is calling people wusses when they disagree with him.”

St. Andy at one time was an interesting read, but anyone scanning his screeds these days knows the poor boy’s self-declamed “conservatism” is a fraud foisted on the public to earn him a seat at yammering TV talking heads tables:

He tells you he’s a conservative, one of the few left in the known world, but he responds like a Democratic candidate for office when faced with most issues. He’s not the “true” conservative soul that can salvage the Republican party. He’s just trying to sell books and get invited back to Bill Mahr’s show.

(…snip…)

How can a conservative really be advocating that we start printing lists of people who are obeying the law as if they were a sub-class of citizen who should be marked in public so as to be more easily identified? What’s next, branding them with a letter of some sort? A big scarlet “G” maybe. Or a yellow cutout of a pistol sewn on their clothing so good and decent anti-gunners can know to stay away from them and not contaminate the purity of the blood.

Calling St. Andrew a big “C” conservative is a joke; not even a good one. Since his first foray into beggin’ for bandwidth bucks he’s been branded a schmuck. Sullivan gives a shit about one thing: Sullivan (oh, and some judge ordering an RC priest to marry him and his fudgie).

Andy (can I call you “Andy”; or should I write it with a lowercase “I” instead of “Y”?) I own a tee shirt that reads “Recovering Catholic” because a) it drives people nuts, and b) I could no longer countenance the teachings by some alleged “infallible” Pope and his Curia. I didn’t have the sheer brass you seem to possess. I never thought for one bloody moment I could change them to my way of thinking. So I walked away.

Why don’t you take a cue from your (figurative… as far as I know) partner in buttfucking, McGreevey, and find a new church? And a new political affiliation, too, since no true Conservative (I live in NYC’s biggest bastion) would ever vote for Kerry… they’d rather sit on their hands….

Which, come to think of it, might actually work for you.

well, isn’t that what motivates nuts like weirdo linda
(who apparently links to your blog now) :0

“St. Andy at one time was an interesting read…”
i always thought justin raimondo was way better

“Calling St. Andrew a big “C” conservative is a joke; not even a good one.”

well, he’s a conservative, if not necessarily a neocon

what is it with neocons that they don’t even put up
    with REGULAR conservatives anymore
or is it like, people like me against dlc dems?

with all respect, it could be argued
that YOU are further right of center than you realize
and that it’s a matter of cognitive dissonance

“Sullivan gives a shit about one thing: Sullivan”

wow, a self-involved gay man in new york?

“I own a tee shirt that reads “Recovering Catholic” because a) it drives people nuts…”

    why?

“b) I could no longer countenance the teachings by some alleged “infallible” Pope and his Curia….”

    -do you believe in God?
-ever check out the whole opus dei/traditional catholic/latin mass thing?
-could you feel comfortable at another church home, ie, protestant, non-denominational, evangelical, etc.?
-do you need to remain at least a nominal catholic because of family/marriage considerations, and/or your ethnic/personal identity is wrapped up with catholicism?

    “So I walked away…”
been there, done that, bought the tshirt

Why don’t you take a cue from your (figurative… as far as I know) partner in buttfucking, McGreevey, and find a new church?

i think sully differed from mcgreevey in that sullivan was more open and upfront about what he was about, and worked a lot of his stuff out and felt a bit more connected to his identity…mcgreevey more or less had no choice because he played the part of dutiful catlick boy, yet almost every facet of his existence was a lie….his wife, his politics, his relationship with his parents, AND the belief system, which was contradictory to what was real….since it was ALL counterfeit and fraudulent, he had to walk away from it all totally and start anew…

funnily enough, prior to his fifteen minutes of fame, mcgreevey was operating pretty much in total accordance with what catholic doctrine teaches that someone in his situation should do (rest stops notwithstanding)….it would be sullivan, with his public assertions, who would be judged apostate

also, catholicism dies hard….it’s not like switching to a new laundromat

    “(I live in NYC’s biggest bastion)….”

    really? the north shore?

i would have thought boro park, or middle village….

“Which, come to think of it, might actually work for you….”

unnecessary, more suited to the moonbattery.com types, unless you really have a hatred for queers

“well, he’s a conservative, if not necessarily a neocon”

    Define it.

  3. TC says:

    who’s linda?

  4. hashfanatic says:

    “Define it….”

broadly, sullivan has more of a libertarian bent, less interested than today’s neocons in controlling the world and nation-building

he’s certainly VERY conservative to the typical liberal new york gay man, perhaps a centrist or moderate conservative to a log cabin rethug

i would say a neocon is willing to take their own country’s military to war, just or unjust, for the sake of another nation or entity’s interests, whereas a conservative would take their military war only for their own country’s interests

now i believe that ALL conservatism is a failed ideology which is essentially dead

but i also believe that america’s so-called conservatives need to stop blaming “libs” and muslims for every one of their failures, ditch the “new world order” and free trade batsqueeze, pick themselves up by their bootstraps, and get back to the smaller-government, balanced-budget, less-spending, constitution-loving, scandal-averse characteristics and policies that their constituents put them in for in the first place

linda is the wacko kahanist freak that whined about me commenting about her over here (you asked “who?” that time as well, and like a bad penny, she rolled over and opened her fat yap)

  5. TC says:

    err, hash?

St. Andrew does not live in NY.

  6. TC says:

“but i also believe that america’s so-called conservatives need to stop blaming “libs” and muslims for every one of their failures,….”

See, you got it all wrong; IT WAS THE POLOCKS!

  7. hashfanatic says:

“St. Andrew does not live in NY…”

    oh?? really?? not at all??

    “IT WAS THE POLOCKS!”

sometimes i wonder why i even try :)

  8. hashfanatic says:

now i’m not one to offer unsolicitied advice
but this time i have to

don’t give up on your faith so easily
you have a home, it is your birthright
give yourself time, and work things out

trust me, it’s easier to go back than you realize

  9. TC says:

hash, if I go “home,” I’m bringing a street sweeper with me…

and buck crazy “Double T”, similarly armed,
gotta be walking the block beside me; with Tommy the Cow along, to make it feel like the old days.

“THE BOYS ARE BACK, BITCHES. NOW GET THE FUCK OFF OUR CORNER.”

  10. Jade says:

I think your post is great and I love the catholic thing, I tell people all the time if you don’t like any ot their churches teachings don’t attempt to change them just stop going to that church and try a new religion, hell there is a new one called global warming, try that on for size. I would say that liberals however are all about getting what they believe they deserve and in such will attempt to change the church instead of leaving, because it’s all about them (ego) don’t you know:)

  11. hashfanatic says:

    that’s sweet, jade

might i suggest the lake of fire
as a possible new eternal, spiritual home?? :) :) :)

  12. TC says:

    bad, bad, bad hashie.

Might I suggest, as the propreitor of this establishment, that you STFU about such stuff?

Your anti-semitic shit is already pushing fucking buttons.

DON’T MAKE ME CALL MAJOR INTO THE MIX!

    eleventy110011!!!!

  13. hashfanatic says:

uh, the “lake of fire” happens to be a PROTESTANT bible concept

and YOU’RE calling me “antisemitic”, cause i won’t lick krauthammer’s tires and nuke damascus???

you know perfectly well md is probably in the garden state right now, helping some old war buds set the pine barrens ablaze…

now, go “wiki” like a good little wingnut….

  14. hashfanatic says:

    didja look it up yet?

okay, now that we all understand that
the “lake of fire” is a PROTESTANT concept….

    how would antisemitism even exist
when such proud warriors of judea like yourself
exist to defend the holy land….for FREE??

please reconsider your actual function in the natural order of things
’cause you ain’t buying your way into the big time

  15. TC says:

    wait.. look up what?
