Communications Breakdown
Since early Saturday evening, I’ve been basically in the dark, data-wise. The place where we are staying, Vacation Village In The Berkshires, has jack squat phone coverage. If my Crackberry can even find ATT’s signal, it barely manages the tiniest reception bar.
Since the only person I ever call using this phone is here beside me, that’s not a problem. I hardly ever give this phone’s # out, so there’s little risk I’m missing anything in that regard. People who need to reach us have the joint’s main desk number.
My two main e-mail addies are likely chock-full of crap that has been piling up while I am blissfully unaware, because I ain’t giving these clowns 10 bucks a day to hook up WiFi in our room. The laptop I dragged along is now just acting as a camera dump. It seemed very relaxing… For roughly 12 hours.
This spell in the dark has taught me a horrible truth: I’m a junkie in withdrawal when it comes to Twitter. I miss being able to glance at this screen and be up to speed on what is going on in the great wide world.
I’ll have posted this riff when we hit civilization….
